Call for Community Members – High School Options Study Committee
The Pittsfield School District is seeking community members to serve on a School Board Committee that will explore the future of high school options for our district.
- This committee combines the intent of both Article 9 and Article 10 approved during the annual meeting process. Its work will include reviewing long-term sustainability, examining potential structural and educational options, gathering community input, and developing findings and recommendations for the School Board and community.
- This is an opportunity to be part of a thoughtful, community-driven process that will help inform important decisions about the future of education in Pittsfield. The committee will focus on research, analysis, and engagement and will not predetermine any specific outcome.
- Community members are invited to submit a brief letter of interest outlining their background and intentions in serving.
Letters may be submitted to Dr. MacDonald at smacdonald@sau51.org by April 9, 2026

How We Measure Success in Pittsfield Schools
The success of Pittsfield schools is measured in multiple ways:
-
State Accountability Reports (NH DOE iPlatform) – Student achievement, growth, attendance, and graduation rates.
-
District Goals – Annual goals set by the School Board and administration that track progress in learning, climate, and fiscal stewardship.
-
NEASC Accreditation – Independent review of Pittsfield Middle High School by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
-
Student Outcomes – College, career, military, and workforce participation after graduation.
By combining these measures, we ensure that success is defined not just by test scores, but by the opportunities and readiness of every Pittsfield student.
